The Rohde & Schwarz MXO34-350 is a high-performance four-channel oscilloscope within the MXO 3 Series, delivering 350 MHz bandwidth while incorporating Rohde & Schwarz's latest oscilloscope architecture. The MXO platform was designed to significantly increase waveform visibility, acquisition performance, and measurement precision compared with traditional laboratory oscilloscopes.
At the core of the MXO34-350 is a custom 12-bit analog-to-digital converter operating at full resolution across all sample rates. Compared with conventional 8-bit oscilloscopes, the architecture delivers sixteen times greater vertical resolution, enabling engineers to observe low-level signal details, switching ripple, transient disturbances, jitter, power integrity issues, and signal integrity problems with substantially improved clarity. Integrated HD mode further extends effective resolution to as much as 18 bits for precision analysis applications.
The oscilloscope supports sampling rates up to 5 GSa/s and provides 500 Mpoints acquisition memory per channel. This combination allows extremely long waveform captures while maintaining fine timing resolution, making the instrument particularly effective for analysing serial communications, embedded processors, industrial control systems, motor drives, switching power supplies, and transient events.
A defining feature of the MXO platform is its acquisition performance. The instrument delivers waveform acquisition rates exceeding 4.5 million waveforms per second with up to 99% real-time signal capture. This dramatically increases the probability of capturing intermittent faults, rare glitches, protocol anomalies, and sporadic disturbances that can remain undetected on conventional oscilloscopes.
Integrated spectrum analysis functionality provides up to 50,000 FFT calculations per second with independently configurable time-domain and frequency-domain controls. Engineers can investigate EMI issues, harmonics, switching power supplies, RF signals, and mixed-domain interactions without requiring a dedicated spectrum analyzer.
Advanced triggering capabilities include extremely sensitive digital triggering, zone triggering, spectrum triggering, runt detection, pulse-width triggering, logic triggering, serial protocol triggering, and math-based triggering. Combined with deep memory acquisition and high update rates, these tools provide exceptional visibility into complex electronic systems.
The large 11.6-inch Full HD capacitive touchscreen provides extensive workspace for waveform analysis, protocol decoding, FFT measurements, automated measurements, and mixed-domain investigations. The platform can be expanded with optional 16-channel mixed-signal capability, arbitrary waveform generation, protocol analysis packages, power analysis applications, and frequency response analysis functionality.
