The Rohde & Schwarz MXO34-200 combines four analogue channels with 200 MHz bandwidth in a next-generation oscilloscope platform designed to deliver exceptional waveform visibility, measurement precision, and debugging performance. Built on the MXO architecture, the instrument provides capabilities normally associated with significantly higher-end laboratory oscilloscopes while maintaining a compact benchtop footprint.
At the core of the MXO34-200 is a custom 12-bit analog-to-digital converter operating at full resolution across all sampling rates. Compared with traditional 8-bit oscilloscopes, this architecture delivers sixteen times greater vertical resolution, allowing engineers to identify low-level signal details, power rail ripple, switching noise, transient disturbances, jitter effects, and signal integrity issues with substantially greater clarity. HD mode further extends effective resolution to as much as 18 bits for precision analysis and low-noise measurements.
The oscilloscope supports sampling rates up to 5 GSa/s and includes 125 Mpoints acquisition memory per channel as standard. Optional upgrades expand memory depth to 500 Mpoints per channel. This deep memory architecture enables long-duration waveform captures while maintaining fine timing resolution, making the instrument particularly effective for analysing embedded processors, industrial control systems, power converters, communications interfaces, and complex transient events.
A defining feature of the MXO platform is its acquisition performance. The MXO34-200 captures more than 4.5 million waveforms per second while maintaining up to 99% real-time signal visibility. This dramatically improves the probability of detecting rare glitches, intermittent faults, timing violations, protocol errors, and sporadic disturbances that often remain hidden on slower oscilloscopes.
Integrated spectrum analysis provides up to 50,000 FFT calculations per second with independent time-domain and frequency-domain controls. Engineers can perform EMI investigations, harmonics analysis, switching power supply development, RF troubleshooting, and mixed-domain debugging without requiring a dedicated spectrum analyzer. Advanced digital triggering incorporates zone triggering, spectrum triggering, serial bus triggering, logic triggering, pulse-width triggering, runt detection, and math triggering for efficient fault isolation.
The large 11.6-inch Full HD touchscreen provides extensive workspace for waveform analysis, protocol decoding, FFT measurements, automated measurements, and mixed-domain investigations. The platform can be expanded with optional 16-channel logic analysis, arbitrary waveform generation, protocol decoding packages, power analysis applications, and frequency response analysis functionality.
