The VIAVI SmartOTDR Family is a professional range of lightweight handheld fibre test platforms engineered for fibre installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and maintenance workflows across telecom, datacentre, metro, access, enterprise, FTTH/PON, and wireless fronthaul environments. Designed for field technicians of all experience levels, the SmartOTDR platform combines automated OTDR analysis, fibre inspection capability, optical loss testing, and visual fault locator functionality within a compact rugged portable architecture.

The ST-OTDR-FAMILY2 series supports single-, dual-, and tri-wavelength configurations including 1310 nm, 1550 nm, and in-service 1625 nm or 1650 nm testing, enabling both standard fibre qualification and live-network troubleshooting applications. PON-optimised measurement capability allows testing through splitters up to 1x128, making the platform suitable for FTTH deployment and maintenance environments.

The SmartOTDR architecture uses an intuitive touchscreen interface with Smart Link Mapper graphical analysis, automatic event detection, one-touch operation, and guided Smart Test workflows to simplify OTDR operation and reduce technician training requirements. Multiple result display formats including SmartLink, Trace, and Table views allow rapid interpretation of fibre events and network conditions without switching applications.
