The VIAVI FI-60 is a compact live fibre identifier and integrated optical power meter designed for non-intrusive live fibre detection, optical power measurement, and fibre troubleshooting across telecom, FTTH, enterprise, wireless, and optical transport infrastructures.

DESCRIPTION:

The VIAVI FI-60 Live Fiber Identifier is a compact handheld live fibre identification and optical power measurement platform engineered for non-intrusive optical signal detection, fibre traffic verification, and optical power testing across telecom, FTTH, enterprise, wireless, and optical transport infrastructures.

Designed for fibre installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service activation workflows, the FI-60 enables technicians to identify live optical traffic without disconnecting fibre links or disrupting active network services.

The platform is engineered for:

  • live fibre identification
  • optical traffic detection
  • optical power measurement
  • FTTH maintenance
  • enterprise fibre troubleshooting
  • telecom service verification
  • active fibre tracing
  • network maintenance
  • fibre continuity verification
  • optical infrastructure diagnostics

The FI-60 incorporates VIAVI SafeChek™ technology, providing repeatable fibre engagement without requiring interchangeable fibre dies while supporting multiple fibre diameters from 250 µm bare fibre to 3 mm jacketed cable.

Its integrated ambient light shield improves measurement stability and reduces false readings during field operation in high-light environments.

The FI-60 combines two operational modes within a single field instrument:

  • Live Fiber Identifier (LFI)
  • Optical Power Meter (OPM)

The removable LFI head converts the platform into a full-function optical power meter supporting:

  • absolute optical power measurement (dBm)
  • relative loss measurement (dB)
  • result storage and recall
  • USB export to PC
  • FiberChek2 integration

allowing technicians to reduce the number of handheld tools required during field deployment.

The FI-60 supports detection of:

  • continuous optical traffic
  • modulated traffic tones
  • dark fibre identification
  • active fibre verification

without interrupting live services.

The system supports field deployment across:

  • telecom carrier networks
  • FTTH/PON infrastructures
  • enterprise fibre systems
  • metro optical networks
  • wireless FTTA deployments
  • structured cabling environments
  • optical maintenance operations
