The Franklin Grid INCON 1511 LTC is a programmable load tap changer position monitor designed for accurate monitoring and indication of transformer LTC tap position within utility substations, power distribution networks, industrial power systems, and electrical transmission infrastructure. The system provides real-time local and remote LTC position indication using slidewire (resistive) feedback devices integrated within transformer load tap changers.
The INCON 1511 LTC receives a 0–24 VDC signal from a resistive drumswitch or slidewire transmitter and processes the signal using firmware-based filtering algorithms to provide stable and reliable tap position indication even in electrically noisy substation environments. Each LTC tap position generates a unique voltage reference allowing accurate transformer tap position monitoring and voltage regulation supervision.
The monitoring platform supports programmable segmented position indication together with analog and digital outputs for integration into SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, and substation automation infrastructure. Optional communication interfaces include RS-232 ASCII and RS-485 MODBUS communications while optional programmable high/low limit relay outputs provide drag-hand contact functionality for alarm and control applications.
The INCON 1511 LTC provides high-accuracy tap position monitoring with ±0.02% full-scale maximum accuracy, ±0.001% full-scale resolution, and a large 5-digit LED display suitable for local operator visibility within substations and transformer control rooms. The system includes regulated 24 VDC slidewire transmitter power and supports analog outputs including ±1 mA, 0–1 mA, 0–2 mA, and 4–20 mA configurations for flexible integration within existing utility infrastructure.
Designed for long-term utility deployment, the 1511 LTC is suitable for transformer voltage regulation monitoring, LTC maintenance analysis, feeder balancing, voltage optimisation, and predictive transformer maintenance applications across utility transmission and distribution systems. Franklin Grid states the INCON LTC monitoring platforms have over 40 years of service history across more than 33,000 utility transformers globally.
