The Franklin Grid INCON® 1250-LTC is a programmable load tap changer position monitor designed for precision transformer LTC monitoring, predictive maintenance analysis, SCADA integration, and utility voltage regulation applications.

DESCRIPTION:

The Franklin Grid INCON 1250-LTC is a programmable load tap changer position monitor designed specifically for transformer LTC position monitoring within utility substations, transmission infrastructure, distribution networks, and industrial power systems. The platform provides precision monitoring of transformer LTC position using synchro transmitter feedback to deliver real-time operational visibility, predictive maintenance intelligence, and centralized SCADA integration capability.

The 1250-LTC measures the absolute position of a synchro transmitter mechanically coupled to the transformer LTC drive shaft and converts rotational position into precise tap position indication using advanced firmware processing. The system provides user-definable digital display indication together with analog and serial communication outputs suitable for SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, and substation automation infrastructures. The monitoring platform supports load balancing, feeder voltage regulation, transformer efficiency optimization, and utility operational control applications.

The INCON 1250-LTC provides significantly enhanced LTC analysis capability beyond basic tap position indication through programmable predictive maintenance functions including tap deviation monitoring, runaway LTC detection, tap change acknowledgement, neutral tap assurance monitoring, and historical tap movement analysis. The platform records tap movement statistics and programmable alarm events allowing utilities to identify abnormal LTC mechanical wear, contact degradation, or operational instability before transformer failure occurs.

The system supports synchro transmitter inputs from 0–90 VAC at 50/60 Hz and provides measurement resolution of ±0.001% of full scale with maximum accuracy of ±0.02% full scale. The unit incorporates a 5-digit LED display with optional analog outputs including ±1 mA, 0–1 mA, 0–2 mA, and 4–20 mA together with optional RS-232 ASCII and RS-485 MODBUS communications. Optional programmable Hi/Lo relay outputs support alarm and control integration within utility protection and automation infrastructures.

Designed for long-term utility deployment, the 1250-LTC has over 40 years of operational service history across more than 33,000 utility transformers worldwide and is suitable for predictive transformer maintenance, LTC performance analysis, voltage optimization, feeder balancing, and transformer asset management applications within critical power infrastructures.
