The Franklin Grid OM3D-F is an INCON® Optimizer3 circuit breaker monitoring platform designed for continuous real-time diagnostics and predictive maintenance monitoring of high-voltage circuit breakers operating within utility transmission, distribution, substation, and industrial power infrastructures. The OM3D-F variant includes integrated fiber-optic Ethernet communications capability for secure high-reliability network integration within utility automation environments.
The OM3D-F supports comprehensive monitoring of live-tank and dead-tank oil, vacuum, and SF6 gas circuit breakers through integrated timing analysis, breaker motion analysis, contact wear monitoring, trip and close coil integrity supervision, charging motor current monitoring, and operational event recording. The platform continuously evaluates breaker health conditions to identify developing mechanical or electrical deficiencies before catastrophic breaker failure occurs.
The monitoring system incorporates 8 sensor inputs, 5 timing inputs, onboard ambient temperature sensing, supply voltage monitoring, CT pickup monitoring, and support for multiple analog and digital sensors including SF6 density monitoring, hydraulic pressure monitoring, heater current monitoring, cabinet temperature monitoring, air pressure monitoring, and trip signature analysis. The OM3D-F supports predictive maintenance strategies by recording breaker timing, arc time, interrupting time, velocity, restrike detection, accumulated contact wear, and fault interruption statistics.
The integrated fiber-optic communications interface provides ST-to-ST multimode fiber Ethernet connectivity operating at 100 Mbps while supporting DNP3.0, TCP/IP, HTTPS secure webserver access, and RS-485 communications for integration into SCADA systems, substation automation platforms, and remote utility monitoring infrastructures. The platform supports simultaneous multi-session communications and remote firmware upgrades, configuration management, alarm handling, and diagnostics reporting through web-based interfaces.
The OM3D-F is designed for continuous 24/7 operational deployment within electrically noisy substation environments and operates across temperature ranges from -40°C to +65°C. The system supports SF6 compliance monitoring and leakage trending while generating automated regulatory reporting and downloadable CSV event logs for maintenance and environmental compliance workflows.
