DESCRIPTION:

The Bird 8720 Series comprises direct water-cooled RF terminations rated for up to 5000 Watts of continuous RF power. In these loads, RF energy is converted to heat in a hollow resistive film element and then efficiently removed by flowing potable water through the unit. Water cooling eliminates the need for oil or blower cooling, allows compact installation in vertical or horizontal orientations, and maintains low ambient temperature even during extended high-power operation. These loads exhibit stable 50 ohm impedance with low Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) over broad frequency ranges, making them suitable for transmitter testing, dummy load substitution, and system calibration.
