The Bird Technologies 4480A Element-Free Digital-Ready RF Power Meter is a modern RF wattmeter that eliminates the need for frequency-specific plug-in elements — enabling instant, broadband operation across a very wide frequency range. Designed for both continuous wave (CW) and digitally modulated signals, it delivers true average power measurements without the hassle of swapping elements, making it ideal for field technicians, test benches, and system integration use.
With its element-free architecture, the 4480A simplifies RF power measurement workflows: connect, select frequency band, and measure in watts or dBm. It displays forward and reflected power, return loss, and Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) directly on its clear transflective LCD with backlight. Rugged and portable, the meter operates on an internal rechargeable battery (providing roughly 8–10 hours of runtime) or external DC supply, making it suitable for both lab and field environments.
Calibration is designed for long-term confidence, with a typical ±4 % accuracy of reading across its range, and connectors are Type N (female) with Quick Change (QC) compatibility for flexible system interfacing.
