43P, Broadband RF Wattmeter with Peak Power
€806.44

Portable directional RF wattmeter with peak-reading capability built on Bird’s classic 43 series design, enabling measurement of both average and peak forward power using interchangeable plug-in elements across a broad frequency range.

DESCRIPTION:

The Bird Technologies Model 43P Peak-Reading RF Wattmeter is a rugged, analog, Tru-Line® insertion wattmeterdesigned to measure continuous wave (CW) and peak RF power on coaxial transmission lines using Bird’s standard plug-in elements. It enhances the classic Bird Model 43 design with an internal peak reading kit that captures and holds the true peak forward power — enabling technicians to assess amplitude-modulated (AM), single sideband (SSB), and other modulated signals in addition to average CW power.

With Quick Change (QC) type connectors and element compatibility, the 43P allows users to tailor frequency coverage and power scales by inserting appropriate frequency- and power-rated plug-in elements. Typical frequency coverage — depending on the elements installed — spans from 450 kHz up to 2.7 GHz, and usable power ranges can extend from 100 milliwatt up to 10 kilowatt full scale with the right elements.

The 43P retains a rugged metal housing and analog needle movement, making it field-ready for transmitter maintenance, antenna tuning, SWR checking, and general RF system diagnostics. Its peak-reading feature — with ± 8 % full-scale accuracy on peak measurements — gives valuable insight into modulated and pulsed RF environments beyond simple average power readings.

Typical Use Suitability:
Ideal for field and bench RF power assessment where both average and peak power need to be monitored — including communications, broadcast, amateur radio, maintenance, and transmitter alignment tasks.
