The Bird Technologies 4314C PEP Single Element RF Wattmeter is an advanced insertion-type RF power meter designed to measure both true average (CW) power and peak envelope power (PEP) on coaxial transmission lines, making it ideal for amplitude-modulated (AM), single sideband (SSB), television video, and other modulated signals. It improves on the classic Bird Model 43 by incorporating electronic peak detection circuitry that accurately captures peak envelope levels.
Using industry-standard Bird plug-in elements, the 4314C adapts easily to a wide range of frequency bands and power levels without complex configuration. The meter houses space for two extra elements, making it convenient for field use. Its rugged metal construction and Quick Change (QC) connectors provide durability and ease of connection in demanding environments, while battery or AC power options ensure flexibility for bench or on-site measurements.
Typical applications include transmitter tuning, antenna and RF system verification, reflected power and VSWR assessment, and diagnostics in communications, broadcast, and industrial RF systems where both average and peak power information are needed.
Typical Use Suitability:
Well suited for RF system testing, maintenance, and calibration where accurate average and peak power readings are required across a broad frequency range of directional RF measurement.
