DESCRIPTION:

Megger 1011-357 is the GILS1 EHV Guard Interconnecting Lead and Strap Kit, an accessory designed to enhance the accuracy of high-voltage insulation resistance testing by enabling effective use of the guard terminal on Megger insulation testers.

The kit includes interconnecting guard leads and elastic conductive straps that create a 360° contact around bushings or insulating surfaces, diverting surface leakage currents away from the measurement circuit. This ensures that insulation testers measure the true resistance of the insulation system, rather than leakage currents caused by moisture, contamination or environmental conditions. 

The GILS1 kit is typically used when testing transformers, bushings, cables, motors and switchgear, especially in high-voltage substations and industrial power systems. Effective guarding helps reduce variations in results and allows insulation resistance values to be accurately trended over time to identify insulation degradation.
